PANDALA COLOURING CALENDAR 2017

After the success of my Pandala Islands meditation coloring book I wrote and drew Pandala in the Zoo, my next book, which was a zoo guide with a tale for families. With this new coloring calendar and the portraits of zoo favorites in it I would like to emphasize again my love for the animal kingdom.
We can bring alive our own zoo by coloring the 12 portraits, and if we frame and hang them on the wall, they can be wonderful decoration items in our home. You may use coloring pencils or felt-tip pens. Let the coloring begin! Use the colors boldly, let your imagination loose! Good luck!

The colouring calendar is now available at the Budapest Zoo gift shop offline and online.

A nice review of my colouring book Pandala Islands

Attain expressive peace of mind amid Hungary’s Pandala Islands - says the title of an article at the popular blog WE LOVE BUDAPEST.
"Escape the stress of daily life and enter a world of smiling whales, mandala-eyed owls, and peculiar plants, all found in the playful realm of “Pandala Islands” – Hungary’s first coloring book designed for adults. This unique new creation by an imaginative Magyar artist welcomes everyone to reach a meditative state while filling a fairy-tale archipelago with life by applying various hues of creativity into the charmingly intricate drawings found on every page, portraying amusing tropical flora and fauna for experimental souls who want to embark on a journey to the fascination of childhood." ...

My Colouring Book for Grown-Ups

"Orsolya Parádi’s sumptuous colouring book takes us on a tantalising tour of the Pandala Islands. A journey into this wonderful world, where we provide colour to its incredible characters and splendiferous settings, is a journey of artistic concentration and meditative relaxation as we take a welcome break from the stresses and strains of everyday life. The first work of its kind from a Hungarian artist, this is a meditative colouring book designed for adults. Every single detail is unique and drawn by hand, helping to create a sense of inner calm and relaxation."

‘Pandala’ is a word of my own invention formed from the Greek word ‘pan’ and the Sanskrit word ‘mandala’, and is designed to describe a world where creatures live in perfect harmony with their natural surroundings. When I was creating this colouring book, I immersed myself in the mystical world motifs and incorporated as much detail as I could to make it a fascinating feast to colour with time to reflect on the beauty of the world around us!

About Me

Hello, my name is Orsolya (Or-shaw-yuh), but everyone calls me Orsi (Or-she).

I am a Hungarian woman, working as a journalist, film critic and editor. I have two kids: Lia (14) and Fulop (3,5).

I started to paint little colourful creatures on small stones, pebbles three years ago. I liked them very much, so did the children around me. Not to lose the stones immediately, it was obvious to put a magnet on their back, and I thought a fridge or a metal cabinet a perfect place for them. You see them every time you open the fridge and they can help holding important notes as 'Don't forget to buy some cookies!'

I continued experiencing and I realized: my animals like to play and wish to have backgrounds that fit. So I created interactive paintings. My first creative book has came out during this Spring.

This is how it starts:

"This book has been made for you. The moment you open it you can enter the world of the imaginary Pandala Islands and get acquainted with the magical stone beings. You can also paint them on pebbles, make salt dough fish ornaments, make felt tic-tac-toe game board for your pandalas, make milk carton pencil holder, color grinning whales, chatty parrots and carnival owls. You can collect and recycle materials in your environment – organic like stone or wood, or artificial as a milk carton. I would like to encourage you to see and find your own fantasy animal! If you wish you can copy the beings of this book, but it’s even better to create your own, unique animal. Enjoy exploring and have fun!"

This blog is my in personal playground. I hope you'll enjoy it! And by the way, Mesekavics means Pebble Tale in Hungarian.

Best,
Orsi

P.s.:This is the cover. It's in Hungarian, but I plan to publish the English version soon!
P.s.2.: Hungary is a small Central-Eastern European country next to Austria.

Summer 2014
